It’s like Uber & PostMates! On-Demand Physical Therapy to Your Door

What happened to Charles

Charles is a 35-year-old software engineer.  He works long hours from both his home and office.

Recently, Charles developed nagging neck pain after sitting in front of his workstation. He has also noticed recently a bit of occasional tingling down to his right hand.

He wants help to get fit with an exercise routine but does not know where to start.  He is worried about injury.  He found out through online search that this tingling in his hands may be Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, a term that he’s heard before but he is unsure of how to deal with it.

All of this is starting to affect Charles’s sleep and his focus at work.  He went to his family Doctor but was rushed through his appointment and sent home with some pain meds.  They told him to check back in six weeks if nothing changes.  Well, six weeks went by and guess what? His neck still hurts and he feels like he can’t catch a break.

Thanks to a Google search, Charles found Luna, an App that delivers Physical Therapy to his home. The therapist arrived with a treatment table and some tools.

Charles was surprised that the therapist spent so much time getting to know Charles and his chief complaint of neck pain.

By the end of his 45 minute session, Charles was already feeling better, filled with hope and a couple of strategies in his pocket to manage his pain.  The therapist said that they will work on a 6-week plan to tackle his problem

Why get Luna?

Luna is a therapist-owned Physical Therapy platform that sends the therapist straight to your door.   With Luna, Physical Therapy is incredibly convenient.  The Therapist will be dispatched to the patient’s home which cuts out your commute time.  You no longer need to drive to your appointment but have it delivered to you.

In addition to the convenience factor, Luna is also safe for clients as it limits the clients to exposure to Covid-19 as the traditional clinic environment will usually have the therapist working with multiple patients in the same enclosed space.

A therapist will spend on average 45-55 minutes each session – this is true for both the first visit and subsequent visits.  This is both for the client’s benefit and also to meet insurance billing requirements.

If you have ever been to an outpatient clinic, the typical reality is a therapist may work with you for 20 minutes but then will have to hand you off to a tech or an aid – this is to generate a volume to meet the clinic’s overhead.

How do I book a session with Luna?

Visit https://www.getluna.com/ or call 888-806-3599 to book your appointment now!

Luna has a quick and responsive team ready to get you started on your journey to wellness.

Visit the website or call 888-806-3599 to verify your benefits.  It should take no more than a minute.  Depending on the state you live in, you may or may not require a Physician’s referral – the Luna team will help you determine whether or not this is necessary.  Also, let them know that Dr. Jonathan Yang sent you!

Who are Luna therapists?

Luna employs licensed Physical Therapists with at least several years under their belt.  The hiring process is contract-based, meaning the therapist will set his/her own schedule.  This flexibility in scheduling is advantageous because this now allows therapists to minimize missing a session in our fast-paced world.

The Luna recruitment team performs a background check to ensure that their therapists are vetted for client safety and an optimal experience.

How much does each session cost?

This will depend on your insurance plan and how much copay Luna has negotiated with each place. Medicare plans may have $0 cost.  There is also a cash-based rate for those without insurance.

If you happen to live in the South Bay in Southern California you may have an opportunity to work with me!  Simply call Luna at 888-806-3599 and ask for Dr. Jonathan Yang.  I will gladly come work with you, otherwise another equally qualified Luna Therapist will be at your door!

What should I expect with a Luna visit

For the very first session, the Therapist will come to you for an evaluation.  This is a time for the therapist to get to know you and find out how to address your pain issues

The first session will focus on a goal-oriented interview to address goals and what you wish to get out of therapy.  If your low back pain is limiting you from sitting at your work station for more than an hour or preventing you from lifting weights for exercise – the therapist will hone in on a solution so you can navigate these restrictions.

The therapist will then develop a treatment plan tailored specifically to you.  He or she may perform any of the techniques: manual therapy (e.g. soft tissue work on sore and affected muscles, they may also perform techniques to mobilize your spine and other body joints), strengthening exercises, stretching routine.

Arguably the most important tool is patient education.  The therapist needs to give you the ability and knowledge to help you manage your condition better.  Having a better understanding of your condition will empower you to resolve it.  Your therapist may give you guidelines to set up your work station more effectively or give you pointers on how to perform certain movements the RIGHT way!

You may see your therapist once or twice each week, but the other 5 days of the week require you to make some changes to deal with your pain issue.
